Switching to PEFC-certified paper for multilayer facings
🡄 Go to sustainability overview
Our PIR Insulation boards are often faced on both sides with a gastight multilayer paper surface coated with aluminium foil. To cut our carbon footprint and contribute to sustainable forestry, we have been working to replace the paper layers with paper sourced from PEFC-certified forests. We’re the first PIR/PUR manufacturer in the world authorised to use the environmental label.

Project description
What is it?
PEFC stands for “the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification”. It is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems, which promotes environmentally-friendly, socially-beneficial and economically-viable forest management through independent third-party certification.
For this project, we looked closer into what paper is used in the multilayer facings of our different products to make sure it is 100% PEFC certified, and thereby sourced from sustainably managed forests.
How do we do it?
We started by certifying our products for the DIY market in 2 production plants. Step by step, we’ve been rolling out the certification to more products and production plants to certify our professional range as well.
We’re working closely with our facing suppliers to obtain PEFC certification for the paper in all our multilayer facings by 2030.
The result
Today, 14 insulation products with multilayer facings are already PEFC certified: Fitforall, Instafit, Eurowall®, Eurowall®+, Eurowall® E, Eurowall® Impact, Eurothane® GP, Eurothane® Eurodeck, Euroroof®, Eurothane® Silver, Eurothane® Silver A, Eurothane® Silver Impact, Eurofloor. The quality and performance remain, only now they have PEFC certified paper in their multilayer facings.
The rest of our range will follow soon.
